Sunday Missions Devotional: Send me!

here am I, send me

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

Several times we find the Lord asking questions in the Bible, the first one of these being the famous “Where art thou?” The same way that question did not mean He didn’t know where Adam was, this question also does not reveal a God who is lacking means to get His word out. God’s questions are intended to produce a result. Adam was given an opportunity to repent, Isaiah is given an opportunity for service. Often people ask me how do I know the Lord is calling me to be a missionary? The mere fact that someone is wondering wether to go or not, is often an indication of God’s calling. Who do you think has put that desire within you? Do you think that everyone asks that question? God’s calling is universal. Of each one of His redeemed He expects obedience to the call to win souls. Can you hear His call? Does it burn within you? Step out in obedience today. Pray with Isaiah, “Here am I, send me!”
