October ’13 Prayer Letter

Dear Prayer Partners,

In a little over a month, we have now been to almost a dozen churches. It has been great to meet people and mention the need of Portugal in places where that need had never been mentioned before. We have also been in churches that already support missions in Portugal and were thankful to hear of their love for the Lord expressed in their missionary endeavours. I find it important to mention that there is still a great need of missionaries in Portugal. We were privileged recently to spend some time with a dear couple who will begin deputation soon to go to Portugal as missionaries. I would encourage any church to consider supporting missionaries or increasing their efforts to reach souls for Christ in Portugal. I remind you that less than 1% of the 11 million Portuguese are born again Christians. It has been our privilege over the years to see God’s hand at work in this nation that is in the 10/40 window, the area in the world with the least access to the Christian message.

Some of the people that came to church in Albufeira for the first time on our last Sunday there continue to attend church and some regular Bible studies have begun as a result of this. Please pray that we can hear of souls saved in Portugal while we are here in the US.

Thank you for praying for the beginning of the Kids Club and Addicts Outreach in Southern Portugal. By the grace of God the first meetings went well and we have been able to see some new faces through the doors. Also, please pray for the teen outreach. This month our teens really began getting excited about inviting their friends to come to church. One Friday night, Pr. Lenildo had 19 teenagers for the Friday night meeting! And he was the only adult present! That is exciting as most of these are unsaved, but please pray with me for voluntary helpers to help with this ministry.

At the church plant in Northern Lisbon there was a special literature distribution meant to saturate the community with the good news of the Gospel. There has already been one phone call as a direct result of this effort. Last Wednesday they had 16 people present. Please pray for Bro. Tito as he leads this work and for results of the outreach campaigns that are going on.

Aura and I are doing well and the Lord has given us safety in travels. Please pray that we will start hearing back from some of the churches about possible support.

Thank you for all your prayers and support.

In His Service, Mark and Aura Pereira
